best time of year to visit Mai Chau is between October to November, and
February to May. During these months, the weather is sunny but not too hot.

Chau is well known for its natural beauty. The valley is home to many ethnic

Normally,
most travelers choose to stay a night in one of the stilt houses to experience
the life of the ethnic tribe people. Stilt houses are the typical feature
of the ethnic people in Vietnam. The houses border both sides of the roads. The
houses are quite large in which up to 60 people can stay together.They are
roofed with palm leaves while the floors are made of bamboo.
The kitchen
is situated in the center of the house. This is the place where cooking and
weaving work take place. Thai people make colorful clothes themselves from “Tho
Cam” materials. They also make many kinds of souvenirs such as wallets, bags,
embroidered pictures, hats etc. On visiting each house, you can buy for your friends and relatives souvenirs made by Thai people such as "pieu" handkerchiefs, tho cam wallets, handbags and clothes.
The
Sunday market brings a lot of people into town. People from different
minorities living in the mountains come to Mai Chau market to sell their
specific products: honey, bananas, corn, and tho cam made by skilled Thai
women. It is also an occasion to enjoy traditional Thai dishes
and to participate in traditional dances.
Come
to Mai Chau, You have chance to explore Mo Luong Cave, Chieu Cave, Pieng Kem
Grotto, Lang Cave and Khau Phuc Cave or you can rent a bicycle to see the
nearby hamlets and view the rice fields and indeed cycling or trekking through
the villages and enjoying the stunning scenery is one of the best experiences
in Mai Chau.

The Pu Luong Nature reserve near Mai Chau that is worth to
visit.This is actually a newly protected
area that serves as home of endangered species such as langurs, civets and
bears but it’s especially good for bird watching. In addition, you can see
immense terraced fields and learn the traditional farming methods of the ethnic
people or discover mysterious caves in Hang and Kho Muong Hamlets.
