The buildings in
the old town was built mostly with traditional materials such as: brick, wood
and no more than two floors The town is a special example of a traditional
trading port in South-East Asia which has been completely and assiduously preserved.
Most of the buildings are not only in the traditional architectural style of the
17th and 19th centuries but also a harmonious blend of Vietnamese,Chinese and
Japanese architecture influences such as the 400-year old Japanese Covered
Bridge, the Phuc Kien Assembly Halls, tan ky house….
