Temple of
literature
The Temple of
Literature is about 10 minutes away from Hoan Kiem lake. It was constructed in
1070 under Ly Thanh Tong’s dynasty, and it is considered as the first university of Vietnam. In addition,
Van Mieu is also the place to worship Confucius, setting doctor steles.
Youngsters and youth always come here to pray for success by touching the rock
tortoises’ head before any examinations, cause it is believed to be very
sacred.

is regarded as the most ancient pagoda in Hanoi with its history line of more
than 1,500 years. The architecture of this Buddhist center is a subtle
combination between the solemn and beautiful landscape on the peaceful and
quiet ambiance of West Lake’s surface.

This is place to put embalmed body of Uncle Ho which is preserved in the
cooled and is protected by a military honour guard. In his will, he wish to be
cremated, and to have his ash buried on the hills of the North, the Center, and
the South of Vietnam. Yet, in honor of his huge dedication for the country and
for the love of all Vietnamese for him, the successor Communist Government
decided to keep his body so that he can see the whole country’s reunion, and
the following generations can come and visit him. The mausoleum is closed
occasionally to restore and preserve the body but is normally open daily from
09:00 to 12:00 to the public.When come here Visitors must be silent, and walk
in two lines. Hands must not be in pockets, nor arms crossed. Smoking,
drinking, eating, bare-shoulder T-shirts, or mini skirts photography and video
taping are also not permitted anywhere inside the mausoleum.
Ho Chi Minh‘s
stilt house:
It's a small 2 storey house built of wood in front of the
Presidential Palace in Hanoi, where the leader Ho Chi Minh spent the last part
of his life.

It has a special typical French structure and architecture and has been
used as the Presidential Palace for high-ranking level diplomatic meetings

The temple was built of wood on a single stone pillar 1.25 m in
diameter and it is said to represent a lotus flower growing up out of the water

The museum was built in the shape of a white lotus flower, which is
nearly 20m high, including 3 floors. The whole museum is a elaborate
description of Ho Chi Minh’s life
Hoan Kiem lake:
The lake is considered the center of Hanoi, Hồ Hoàn Kiếm means "Lake of
the Returned Sword", The name refers to the 15th-century legend in which
the nobleman Le Loi, who fought for the Vietnamese against Ming China, received
a sword from a magic turtle living in the lake. The nobleman defeated the Ming
and returned home in victory. One day, the emperor was boating in the lake when
the turtle appeared asking for the sword to restore it to its heavenly owner.
In memory of this event, the emperor built the Tortoise Tower on an island at
the south end of the lake. Enormous turtles still live in the lake today.
Ngoc Son temple:
The Temple of the Jade Mountain is located on Hoàn Kiếm Lake in central Hanoi.
It is dedicated to General Tran Hung Dao who defeated the Mongols in the 13th
century, La To - patron saint of physicians and the scholar Van Xuong.
Hanoi old quarter
or Hanoi 36 old streets:
If you go a walk around Hanoi old quarter, you’ll see that
is small old streets with tube houses which still remain their shape from 19th
century. And a special that the name of the street also have word “hang”.In the
past, as artisans moved to the capital city to do business, they gathered
together in this area to share the resources. As a result, many of the streets
were named after the crafts sold at that individual street. Although many of
the streets no longer sell the products after which they were named, some still
do
West lake:
With
a shore length of 17 km , this is the largest lake of the capital
