Cat Ba island is
located in Lan Ha Bay and belong to Cat Ba Archipelago of Cat Hai district, Hai
Phong city. With 1969 island, it is biggest island in halong bay and recognized
as natural heritage site by unesco.
It is home to the golden-headed langur (Trachypithecus
poliocephalus), one of the top ten rare primates in the world due. Besides The
island has a wide variety of natural ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial,
leading to incredibly high rates of biodiversity. Types of natural habitats
found on Cat Ba Archipelago include limestone karsts, tropical limestone
forests, coral reefs, mangrove and sea grass beds, lagoons, beaches, caves, and
willow swamp forests

Trung Trang
valley
It is the biggest valley on Cat Ba Island with an area of about 300
hectares, lower than sea level from 10 to 30 meters and far from Cat Ba town
about 15 kilometers. Come to Trung Trang cave, you can see hundreds of natural
stalactites with the unique shape
Quan Y cave
It is located on Cat Ba Island, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city. The cave belongs to
the Hung Son, and in the only road crossing the island, 13km awayfrom Cat Ba
town. It is called as Quan y Cave (Military Hospital Cave) because during the
American war, it was built with a hundred hospital beds inside the cave.
Phu Long cave:
The cave is located in Phu Long commune, Cat Hai district. Visitors to the cave
will have more scientific understanding of the process of formation of
limestone caves by the creator, the rise and fall of sea level over the period
of geological movement that its mark left behind in ancient sediments or water
traces on the cave walls. Coming further into the cave one sees all the beauty
and excitement of the art sculptures in natural light vanity lamps, torches.
Phu Long cave is also a place to keep the bones of the primitive people, with
hiddend mysteries, a pirate refuge of one time. In front of Phu Long cave is a
large pond with potential for seafood. Around the cave is primitive forest,
vegetation diversity and abundance, including many rare herbs. Phu Long cave is
an ideal place for the study of prehistoric archeology and ecotourism
development.
Cat ba national
park
Situated to the
North West of Cat Ba Island, . The Park covers an area of 15,200 ha, including
9,800 ha of forests with splendid grottoes. It contributes to the rich flora
and fauna collection of Vietnam. Cat Ba National Park is also home to 20
species of mammals, 69 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and amphibians,
11 species of frogs. Many of these animals are listed in the Red Book and under
tight protection. The most notable of all is Vooc (white faced monkeys), which
can only be found on Cat Ba Island. Another strange plant is Ma Tien fruit, an
extremely toxic fruit. If a person eats Ma Tien he will die immediately, but
the white-faced Vooc often survive on Ma Tien leaves and fruits
Lan ha bay:
Lan
ha bay is located in the south of Ha Long Bay. It belongs to Cat Ba islands
area, Hai Phong city. Many people think that it is Halong bay area because it
also has hundreds of islands like Halong bay
Lan Ha bay has
about 139 beautiful, small sandy beaches, many island has sandy beach lie
between two stone mountains. Many tourists come to these beaches for swimming,
kayaking, having sunbath or have a picnic lunch on the beach. Not only is it
famous for beautiful beaches, but also for the imposing caves and ideal place
for fishing.
Viet hai village
Viet Hai
Village, located approximately 18 km from Cat Ba island, the small fishing
village of Viet Hai stretches along the coastline. To reach the village one can
embark on an 8km trek passing the Ao Ech Lake before arriving in Viet Hai.
Arrive in Viet Hai pier, you take a short biking trip to Viet Hai village to
experience the daily life of local people, also enjoy the natural beauty of Cat
Ba Island
Beaches:
Cat Co
1, Cat Co 2, Cat Dua, Cat Ong, Duong Danh,... are small rainy, secretive,
shaded bathing grounds with fine white sand and clear water. A theme park
called "Palace under the sea" will be built to enable human to
directly observe porpoises, lobsters, sharks, sea tortoises, cutlet-fish,..
slowly wandering near red corals.
Ba Ham Lake
Ba Ham lake is
located in the southwest of Halong Bay. It's on Dau Be Island Range, Lan Ha
Bay. The lake is about 25 kilometers far from Bai Chay Tourist Wharf. Ba Ham
Lake comprises three round pits linked with each other by a narrow and dark
tunnel.

The tunnel’s ceiling has the height ranging from 4 – 5 meters. Thus, the only
way to access the lake is by local sampan. Sailing through the tunnel, tourists
can see various stalactitesin strange shapes hung down from the ceiling.
